เป็นเพลง แนวคันทรี่ ยุค 70's
เพลงนี้เคยติด Chartsอันดับ 1
ใน U.S. ปี 1972 ซึ่งก่อนหน้านั้น
เพลง Heart of gold อยู่อันดับ 1

จขบ. อ่านพบจาก หนังสือของ อ.เศรษฐวิทย์
กล่าวไว้ว่า เป็นเพลงที่เกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ของ
ชายหญิงคู่หนึ่งที่มีต่อกันในช่วงสั้น ๆ และเเล้ว
ก็ต้องเลิกลากันไป แล้วชายผู้นั้นก็ไปมีรักใหม่
ในท้ายที่สุดก็มาคิดเสียดายรักครั้งแรก
หลังจากใช้ชีวิตอยู่กับคนรักใหม่สักระยะ

ในที่สุดก็ต้องให้คนรักใหม่จากไป
เพราะรู้แล้วว่าคนรักใหม่ไม่ได้รักเขาจริง
แต่ก็น่าเสียดายที่คนรักเก่านั้นได้จากเขาไปแล้ว

โดยผู้ประพันธ์เพลงเขาบรรยายว่า

ความรักเพิ่งจะเริ่มต้น..อันแสดงให้เห็นว่า
ทุก ๆอย่างดูสดใสไปหมด
หลังจากที่ชีวิตรักขาดสะบั้นลง
ก็มองเห็นสิ่งที่ไม่ดี

ในช่วงแรกของเส้นทางสายชีวิต
(เปรียบเส้นทางเดินในทะเลทรายเหมือนเส้นทางรัก)

เป็นช่วงที่ฉันมองหามาตลอดชีวิต

มีต้นไม้ใบหญ้า นกนานาพันธ์ และสิ่งของมากมาย

ในสมัยก่อนที่อเมริกายังไม่เจริญมาก
จึงใช้ม้าเป็นพาหะนะ และสิ่งที่นักเดินทางจะเจอ
ก็คือ ต้นไม้ใบหญ้ากรวดหินดินทราย สัตว์น้อยใหญ่





"A Horse with No Name."
ได้รับความนิยมทั้งในยุโรปและในอเมริกา
ชื่อเพลงนี้ครั้งแรกถูกตั้งว่า "Desert Song,"
จนเมื่อ Samwell มาแนะนำให้เปลี่ยนชื่อมาเป็น
"A Horse with No Name."

เพลงนี้แต่งโดย Dewey Bunnell
วันนั้นเป็นหน้าฝนในประเทศอังกฤษ แต่อากาศร้อน
และแห้งซึ่ง Bunnell ผู้แต่งเพลงนี้จำมาจากสมัยเด็ก
ที่ฐานทัพอากาศ Vandenberg และศัพท์คำว่า

Horse ใน Kansas City มักจะใช้เป็นคำแสลง
ของพวกเขาซึ่งหมายถึงสารเสพติดพวกเฮโรอีน
เหมือนที่คนไทยเคยเรียกยาบ้าว่ายาม้านั่นเอง

America ได้รับการตอบรับ
กับงานเพลงในช่วงยุค ’70 เป็นอย่างมาก
และมีผู้ขนานนามให้ว่าพวกเขาเป็น โฟล์ค อินดี้

ปลายปี 1971 Single : A horse with no name
ได้ออกมาจำหน่าย ที่อเมริกา ซึ่งขณะนั้น บทเพลงนี้ได้เบียดอันดับบน
“Billboard Top Ten Single 1972”
กับเพลง Heart of gold ของ Neil Young ซึ่งในช่วงวันที่ 18 March 1972
บทเพลง Heart of Gold ขึ้นถึงอันดับ 1 และต่อมาอีก 1 สัปดาห์ให้หลัง
A horse with no name ขึ้นมาแทนที่อันดับ 1 ซึ่งคือบทเพลง
Heart Of Gold ของ Neil Young
